1889 Map319 viewsThis is from an 1889 Sanborn Map for Wellington. It shows the Bennett Bros and Co. Foundry and Machine Shop, which would later become Wellington Machine. The two structures at the right, marked "DWG" are houses. Various parts of the plant such as sheds, machine shop, storage, foundry, and sawing/planing shops are listed.
Sanborn Maps were produced for insurance companies to provide fire insurance. They would typically include information such as construction type, heating type, fuel sources, etc.

The Hemlock Cottage Furniture Warehouse was destroyed by fire. The building was on DeWolf Street and had been home to many companies over the past few decades. It was built as the Bennett Brothers Foundry and Machine Shop between 1884-1889. By 1893, the building was occupied by Wellington Machine Company, which used the building for many more years.
